Welcome to Sis, That’s Your Business! We are a private, members-only community for Black women and girls who are building, creating, and sustaining business in Central New York and beyond. We are here to connect, share knowledge, and keep our resources circulating among us.
This space is built on three promises:
• You don’t have to do business alone.
• You don’t have to shrink to be supported.
• Community care isn’t optional. Community care is the point.
Behind the brand planning, launches, paperwork, the long nights, there’s a sister with a dream. This community exists to pour into you while you pour into your business.
We focus on real support, not performative hype: shared expertise, group challenges, vendor opportunities, education and the protection of a vetted, aligned network.
If you’re a Black woman building something solid and you’re committed to community over clout, you’re in the right place.
Together, we make sure your business isn’t just seen, it’s sustained.
We take protection seriously. Everyone here is vetted. Not because we’re exclusive for aesthetics, but because Black women deserve safe spaces where harm cannot hide behind a cute logo.
Here’s how it works:
• Applicants complete a detailed intake form
• We confirm identity, location, and business authenticity (if applicable)
• We verify alignment with our mission and values
• Final decisions are made by the Community Team
We’re looking for sisters who:
• Own or operate a business, nonprofit, or independent venture/passion project
• Believe in ethics, accountability, and community care
• Show up for other Black women in good faith
If someone isn’t a match, it’s never personal; it is protection.
Trust is earned here. Once you’re inside, you can be at ease knowing everyone around you earned their spot too.
This community stands on respect, accountability, and collective protection. If you’re in this network, you agree to:
• Keep it safe. No harassment, gossip, or messy toxicity.
• Keep it confidential. What’s shared here stays here. Period.
• Keep it aligned. No predatory behavior, scams, or exploitation.
• Keep it honest. Show your real work — not the aesthetic of the work.
• Keep it reciprocal. Engage, support, offer value. Don’t just take.
Zero tolerance for:
• Colorism, misogynoir, queerphobia, or any discrimination
• Doxxing or privacy violations
• Using this membership to gain access and harm another member
• Stealing or copying ideas taken from inside the community
One warning for mild violations. Immediate removal for abusive behavior. We protect each other.
Ready to join the community? We’re excited for you, and we do read every single submission. Give us your real voice, not the “corporate bio” version of you.
What you’ll need to provide:
• Your full name and business name
• Where you’re located
• Your website or social media for verification
• A short description of what you do and why
• How you show up for Black women in everyday actions
• What you hope to give to and receive from this community
Our review window is typically 7–10 days. You’ll receive an email update whether approved or declined. If declined, we’ll allow re-application after six months if something changes for certain applicants.
We’re building a village. Tell us why you want to be part of it. Apply here.
Our community doesn’t just celebrate success, we support survival and growth. The #CuseGirlMagic Mutual Aid Fund helps Black women and girls with real-life needs that impact personal stability and business sustainability.
Funds may provide:
• emergency assistance
• micro-grants for business gaps
• event fees, supplies, or childcare needs
• support when life throws a brick at your plans
Money comes from ad revenue, donations, and collaborative campaigns. Every dollar is tracked, and every distribution is approved by our Community Team with full transparency to members.
We don’t wait for institutions to care about us. We care for us.
NOTE: We are still in beta testing phase of the directory, and members will have opportunity help test it first.
Alongside this network, we maintain the our STYB Directory — a public resource spotlighting businesses owned by us and serving our communities. While the social network is private, the directory is outward-facing. It ensures visibility, discovery, and access to opportunities beyond our members-only walls.
Listings are vetted, just like membership. That standard matters because every name in that directory represents trust.
If you run a business and want Syracuse and CNY to find you first, submit your listing. If you want your dollars to stay local in our community, use this directory.
We invest in each other’s success. That’s the whole point.
